Students who receive their permit between the ages of 15 and 18 must maintain a driving log. During the first year following the issuance of your “Learner’s Permit”, you must record at least 50 hours of driving time with a supervising parent/guardian. At least 10 hours of this time must be designated as night-time driving. If you are between the ages of 15 and 15 ˝, you must also complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel driving instruction from a certified school such as Boulder Driving Academy. Upon completing your driving log, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, (recommended for everyone but only required if you are 15 to 15 ˝) and holding your permit for one year, you may take your written driver’s license test at the Department of Motor Vehicles. You must then pass the Department of Motor Vehicles driving test to receive your license.
